Tardebigge
I picked up the remaining slabs after my blood test this morning and we completed the garden path with one or two to spare, good planning. One of the stone slabs has a fossil of a Jurassic fern imbedded, one day I may blip it.
After lunch we headed off to Tardebigge a village not too far from Redditch. They have a massive pub there, which we didn’t visit, and opposite they have a very interesting collection of small shops/workshops including today’s picture, so if you want a battered dustbin or a tin bath, now you know where to go.
We were actually going to a place called Fat Boys. It’s been there for years and we’ve used it before for a collection of reclaimed items, though nowadays they appear to be concentrating on wood and multi-fuel burning stoves. Today we were after a fire grate and front plate for the open fire that came with the house. We found one gathering dust in a back room, presumably thrown out when they installed their new stove, and now we’re looking forward to the next cold snap so we can try it out.
After storing them in the boot we took Dylan for a walk towards the village and visited a garden centre run by prisoners from the nearby detention centre. Dylan was set upon by three frisky spaniels, but held his own very bravely.
