glinting
Very short on photography time today so I took this quick snap on my way to work. It's part of the Elmwood Hall in Belfast, originally built as a church in 1859 but now owned by Queen's University. These days it's used as a concert hall, and is the home of the Ulster Orchestra.
The building is a real mish-mash of architectural styles, and is very elaborate. I'm not sure it actually works as a whole but I like it, and as far as I know it's seen as one of the best examples of this kind of mad Victorian design. My favourite part is the gold weather vane on top of the spire; every so often, when the wind is coming from the right direction and the sun is in just the right place, the cockerel really shines. I always look up on my way past to see how it's looking. Today I was lucky, it was gleaming :)
(PS: the blue sky didn't last for long!)
