Steps in the river

This is Shelf Brook which runs through my local park and is home to the Dipper in my first Blip, a family of Grey Wagtails and if you are really lucky a Kingfisher.

I love this weir, I stop on the bridge where I took this photo everytime. The changing light and different tree cover as the seasons change together with water levels rising and falling makes it a fascinating and ever changing scene. It is also the best spot to see the Dipper but he didn't appear today. I love the way the water chooses different routes down the steps. It changes from a trickle to a raging torrent depending on the weather.

Shelf Brook rises on Bleaklow in the Dark Peak area of the Peak District, it joins the River Etherow which joins the River Goyt, which joins the River Mersey out to the Irish Sea.

I think this may possibly appear in a Blip again as autumn turns to Winter.
