Odd Day

Well, as odd days go, this one is right out there.

It started with a call from one of our tenants "sir, there seems to be a lot of cop cars around our house". It's actually two houses, and the cops were looking for the tenant of the other house. Who didn't seem to be answering his door.

So we went round. Chatted to a female officer from the local SWAT team about what was going on. Essentially our tenant threatened someone the previous day with a rifle. As you do. And a proper AR15 rifle as well. No half measures here. Why point a pistol at someone when you have a semi automatic rifle to hand?

And because of the gun involvement, the arrest warrant was going to be served by the SWAT team rather than the usual Police officers.

Our gardener lives opposite our tenant houses (he handles the rental gardens, not ours - I'm not that lazy), and they offered some drinks to myself and my wife.

And then as the stand off dragged on, they offered us lunch as we couldn't leve because the roads were now sealed off by the cops.

And then we watched the SWAT team arrive, and after 4 hours they finally got our tenant to come out with his hands up.

So what a day!

If you look carefully in the photo, that's a SWAT team member leaning on my truck with his rifle (not sure what rifle, coincidentally it'll be an AR15 type rifle).

And then we got home to find two tenants at another house calling the cops on each other. My wife decided that she didn't want to meet any more cops so rounded up one dog, drove round the neighbourhood to find me with the other dog (taking him for a walk), and we had dinner out as a family at Sonic. Dogs shared a chicken meal.
