Mellow Yellow?

Back blip

After going to a friend's opening night of his photography exhibition, we wandered along Calle Parlament, just off Parallel and were amazed at all the trendy shops, cafes, bars and restaurants in that stretch. Well worth a visit for anyone coming to Barcelona. In saying that, we stopped at this one in my blip and sat at a table outside, ordered a drink, some olives and the menu. The food being served looked good! A few mins later, half of our table was whisked away for other customers. Then, the customers at both tables on either side started smoking. We went inside and upstairs. We tried three tables, all of which had air conditioning vents blasting right onto one of the seats. We went downstairs and chose another table. Again air conditioning blasting away, but the food looked good so we hummed and hawed, moved the table a bit and decided to stay. Then we looked at the table and realized how tiny it was.......the same as most of the other tables for two and noticed that people were sitting carefully, balancing everything carefully, moving carefully, and couldn't fit any more than one tapa onto the table at any one time! Not for us we eventually decided, and left. Why is it that so many places put fashion before function? The two together can work! Do the people (owners/managers/architects) never try the places out themselves? Rant over!
