Nathan Foley exhibition

I popped into GOMA after a meeting and on route to the train home.
This angle shows the eye level view that the gallery assistant has from her chair She was really engaging and enthusiastic, especially for a Friday afternoon where the last two hours were spent looking at this view.
This exhibition is called (The lamp of sacrifice, 286 places if worship, Edinburgh 2004' by Nathan Foley

Inspired by a line in John Ruskin's essay, "it is not the church we want but the sacrifice" referring to buildings being functional but architecture inspring feelings such as sacrifice, power, beauty, truth, life memory, or obedience.

Nathan has united the buildings in cardboard and has stripped them from their original communties, to enables us to view them as a separate community. Interesting.
