Misery

I hate shopping for anything much other than books and cakes.

I expect things I do eventually spend time acquiring or am given, and that are useful (cars, phones, computers, light bulbs...), to jolly well just keep on working.

So when the fridge part of the fridge-freezer heats to 18degrees and the engineer fixes it with a hair dryer (blocked drain = iced up freezer = no cold air getting to fridge) and I hand him £117 pounds and it works for three days then starts to not work and the
Engineer returns and says 'oops it's the motor - that'll be another £240+vat if you want to repair it and I end up in John Lewis pricing a replacement to see if it is worth repairing the old one and ...

It's Christmas!!!!'

The only relief us to be my grumpy-middle-aged self and fill in a complaint card about their stealing the pleasure of midwinter from me by shoving artificial trees and baubles in my face at the beginning of October.

So there!
