A slice of Lesley's life

Going solo

Jackson wasn't one of those kids who was born with a bucketload of confidence. His has grown and developed at a pretty steady and gradual pace over the years. And especially since he started school which has been a brilliant environment for him. Now in Year 6 he is really taking on the joys of more responsibility and independence. Just a month ago he wasn't sure when he might want to walk home on his own. Now he's done it a few times, today he said he fancied the walk even though I had the car as I'd been shopping. It was a beautiful afternoon and he loved his walk home in the sunshine. Though I expect he would have done so even in the pouring rain.

The gossip-mongers of Y5 informed me that today he was asked out by two girls and has to decide which one he wants to go to the school disco with on the upcoming residential week.

Perhaps that put a spring in his step.
