Free range (Christmas dinner)

Today I went for a walk in the North Pennines AONB Walking Festival. The route was through Dukesfield Woods and criss crossed over Devil's Water. It was very windy but also very mild.

At our lunch stop, a turkey approached our party, walking towards us quietly and obviously hoping to find food without us noticing. It then lay down beside a wall and made no attempt to run away. It even started out with us on the next stretch of the walk.

I've never seen a live one so close. Look at those feathers.
