"BELL'S BRIDGE GLASGOW"
As you can see, its been a rather grey and overcast day in Glasgow.
The Bell's Bridge, which opened in 1988, links the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre to the south bank of the River Clyde where BBC and STV now have their new
headquarters.
It was originally built for the Glasgow Garden Festival and meant as a temporary structure to take pedestrians and cyclists to and from the massive event.
It has renewed importance because of the 2014 Commonwealth Games where the boxing, netball, gymnastics, judo, wrestling and weightlifting were held at the SECC and the new Hydro Arena and linked to the the international broadcasting and main press centre across the river.
The bridge, which swings open to allow ships to pass, was owned by Scottish Enterprise but was taken over by the city council on condition the organisation funded the £1.6m restoration costs which also resulted in the bridge's canopy, which was removed in 2006, being replaced.
The upgrade also saw the bridge being blast cleaned and repainted, its hydraulics, electrics and mechanics being overhauled and new lighting installed.
It is now well used by pedestrians and cyclists alike.
