Hobbs's Run

Loves Bay to Werri Beach

The main reason for this excursion to the south coast seaside is to commence my assault on the great Kiama Coastal Walk which runs from Werri Beach in the south, through the town of Kiama itself to the entrance of the Minnamurra River in the north. The trail hugs the shoreline all the way along beaches and across headlands.

The task naturally breaks down into three manageable sections (bite sized chunks for old fellas like us). I am accompanied by Gerry who was my companion for a 200 km epic walk from Barrenjoey Point to Bass & Flinders Point some years ago. I could provide a link to a huge collection of images covering that adventure but I have decided to be merciful.

This leg runs from a place called Loves Bay at Kiama Heights to Werri Beach where our lovely wives will meet what's left of us and transport the pieces back to evening celebrations.

All along the route there are well marked guides, information plaques and instruction posts. This section is well away from civilisation and is bounded to the west by the lonely south coast railway line. Once you start there is no escape until the finish is reached. There are well maintained rest spots along the way and there are some spectacular seascapes to be seen here and there.
