October Challenge: Shade
Today's temperature in Palm Springs was predicted to reach 101 degrees F, more than a bit warm for early October. I took my walk early in the morning, and it felt almost cool outside. The skies had light, feathery clouds resembling painted brushstrokes-particularly beautiful against the blue skies. This view is looking to the southwest in the valley, with the just-risen sun coming from the left. The shadow of the mountains themselves created about the only shade in the photo. A very typical desert scene, but one I never tire of seeing. The forecast proved to be accurate, and it was still over 90 when we had dinner tonight, well after sunset. Needless to say, we were grateful for every bit of shade today. For chantler's October word challenge.
