Frozen

This morning’s frost was almost as bad as the worst frosts in winter. The hail from yesterday covered the ground and was frozen hard. No water flowed from the taps.

All my spring flowers hung their icy heads. In the vegetable garden the little pak choi plants survived unscathed, but the Great Lakes lettuces look rather sad. I sprayed the fruit trees before sunrise, with the exception of one apricot tree that the hose can’t reach. It has peanut-sized fruit on it and I’m hoping that its sheltered position will save it.
