'The Stripy Caterpillar'
Spotted this really unusual caterpillar out on our back gate this morning. Not sure what type it is and never seen one like this before, but it certainly got my attention with those bright yellow stripes along it's body.
Had a visit from Nana Mac & Uncle Donald for morning tea this morning. Nan is looking extremely well and says that she is fighting fit. 'I'm feeling strong enough to pull boats down the Yarra' she said when I asked her how she was feeling. Hard to believe that she is heading for 99 years old now. She bought over her crocheting and sat there crafting while we had a culpa and yummy cakes. She was making blankets for 'the old people' she said, probably 10 or 15 years her junior I'd say. What an incredible woman she is.
This afternoon we headed down to the netball courts with the kids bikes so that they could have a ride around in the glorious sunshine we had today. Ended up walking along the Diamond Creek Trail until we hit the first playground. The kids had a great time there. Bella was playing shops, selling me all sorts of goodies that she found on the ground and the bark chips were the currency. Meanwhile Dylan spotted a little boy kicking the footy with his mum and asked me to ask them if e could join in. They didn't mind at all as the Mum was busy looking after her little baby too so it gave her some cuddle time and kept the boys busy for the best part of an hour I'd say.
Heading back along the trail we stopped and had a long chat to a local guy who I would say was definitely an alcoholic, but a very knowledgable one, who used to teach English & English Literature at Whittlesea High School. I reckon he would have chatted to us all day if he could have. His eyes were bloodshot red, his clothes were old and worn out, he wore an old woollen beanie on his head and was walking with a limp (maybe due to gout) with his dog Voss the greyhound. He seemed to be a very intelligent man who had gotten himself into trouble with the bottle (I'm on guessing though)
Fish n Chips for dinner and hopefully an early night.
Daylight savings starts for us tonight also, YAY, love getting home from work while it's still light.
