There had been a lot of flooding a few weeks before we arrived and much of the farm had been underwater. Apparently the community really pulled together and helped with the massive clear up.

The only real evidence of the catastrophe were some bits of rubbish still lying about, a couple of rowing boats upside down on the path and the remains of a deer and sheep carcass left on the shore. These provided the dogs with some crafty manoeuvring and behaviour in their attempts to outwit me and get a mouthful of bones. This is Poppy pretending she is just standing gazing and listening but in reality she is waiting for me to turn my back and carry on walking so that she can double back to get to the deer carcass! Bud didn't bother with all this he just completely ignored me and made a beeline for his breakfast. He went on the lead until we were well past.
