The View from Our Room
This is the view from our bedroom complete with white doves. HG thinks I've laid this on specially for his birthday today and I'm letting him believe it, especially as the weather forecast reckons that we are in for bad weather later. Yesterday we explored the grounds and sat watching their Head Gardener cut the acres of lawn. Lo and behold - they have a woman (!) with a helper who does a superb job of tending the gardens with not a weed in sight - well, she would, wouldn't she?!.
Last night we went to the Theatre Royal Brighton to see the touring production of The Importance of Being Ernest which was fantastic, then drove home along the Sussex roads approaching the castle in moonlight with mist over the nearby river. It was a magical sight neither of us will forget. The history of this place can be found here. I now have the job of putting 64 candles on HG's birthday cake (or not!) and making sure he has a great day before I present him with a new To Do list of things to be done on our 'estate'!
