Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

And the Sun was Gone

When I completed my time at the campus today, I drove home, packed the car, loaded the three pooches in and we were gone. I drove here to the Central Coast -- driving time was 4 hours and 10 minutes arriving with plenty of time to see the sunset. This is my favorite photo.

It was an uneventful trip with the three dogs each in a separate travel crate. First time they've traveled like that, but last time we came here, two weeks ago, Max would not stay in the backseat. He got scared because Mitzi started sneezing and he pulled out of his harness and pretty quickly he was in the front with Mr. Fun and me. That was not a happy moment. This time he did real well. The traffic through Pasadena was minimal, a little congestion in Oxnard, almost none in Santa Barbara, and then the traffic increased when the commuters from Lompoc joined in to head toward Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo. It's always fun to reach the Highway 1 turnoff in SLO and head toward Morro Bay and Cayucos.

Stepping into this house was a little overwhelming. It was definitely over a hundred degrees inside. We're pretty sure this house built in 1942 has not a bit of insulation. It took three hours for this old house to cool down, and even then, it was still warm and stayed warm all night. I was later told it was the hottest day this year in Cayucos.
