How Reddit works
Sue's far-flung family is gathering this weekend to celebrate the arrival of her new granddaughter, Eliana. Kelly, the one with the phone in this picture, demonstrates like an old-time prestidigitator the wonders of the Reddit app. He always dazzles us with his knowledge of computer tricks and short-cuts.
We had just been discussing the article in Scientific American about how the brain processes screens differently from book pages...and how screen-time is changing our ability to concentrate...when Kelly explained that if you handle the Reddit app skillfully you can save yourself hours of screen time and then have more time available to read books, if that's your thing.
Meanwhile in Skyroad's blip I find reference to a marvelous poem by Mark Doty that leaves me dreaming about youth, age, what is open, what is closed, what is yes and what is no.
