If I was able to choose somewhere new to live ( ignoring practicalities like cost and limited availability) the hamlet of Hill Houses near Hayfield in Derbyshire would be on my short list. It is half way from Hayfield to Kinder Scout and has a great view of Kinder Bank Wood but its rolling farmland not Dark Peak moorland.

A special place which we enjoyed this afternoon during a short walk with Dad - he did well on the ups and the downs. It was chilly in the shade but warm in the sun.

Hayfield was even busier than usual with its very own Hayfest Musical festival this long weekend.
