The seedling
I came across it this afternoon when I was cutting back a mass of dahlias behind the house. I hadn't noticed it before, despite it's three foot. It was tucked in like a rat in a nest of kittens. Stealth.
I gave it a yank cos they suck the life out of everything, they do, given the chance.
It came out clean as a whistle, three fine roots unencumbered by soil and mischief!
My neighbour was leaned on the fence, watching, drunk (as you are on Saturday afternoon). There's me stood holding the wee cretin in my left hand, secateurs in my right, and he whispers "Precious" all raspy like.
I didn't want to get in a fist fight with him.
I've bunged it in a big pot. It might see Christmas.
