Behind bars
St. Mary's church (formally the Minster Church of St Mary the Virgin) sits in the centre of Reading. The churchyard is open to the surrounding town, with beautiful old gravestones standing next to modern shops, restaurants and offices.
I've noticed this stone before, and been struck by the bars that have been set up around it. I'd like to think they've been put there to keep vandals OUT, but...!
I shot a couple of other stones in the graveyard (here and here) that I looked quite nice with tye combination of autumn colours and strong sunlight we had today. And as I was leaving, I liked the pattern these benches and bollards made where the churchyard meets St. Mary's Butts (where, in medieval times, archery was practiced on Sundays).
