New piano
I was feeling very balanced, calm and serene after Hot Yoga when the piano tuner called round. I have never had the piano tuned, I got it from Freecycle 6 years ago. Mark, Fred and I turned up with Freds van at a church hall in Cheadle and the people there practically pushed the piano out the door into the dark rainy evening, locked up and ran off in a matter of minutes. I hadn't really thought through fully how much an iron frame piano would weigh and how we would lift it into the van. In the end the boys rolled it head over heel to get it in and we called for reinforcements from Marks dad and brother on the way home to roll it into our hall.
India has been whingeing about the few silent keys and the fact that it doesn't sound anything like the one at her lesson so I'd finally got the man round. He opened up the lid and and gave his verdict, there were whole strings missing and it needed a full stripping out and redoing. Thank goodness for yoga this morning. In the end he recommended buying a second hand one for only a little bit more than the cost of the work. Go for it I said! It's smaller, beautiful and sounds just lovely, India was so excited when she came home. Fingers crossed Mr.W doesn't notice it til after the cheque clears!
