Biert

Monday 6th Oct
Have just caused chaos in the van by knocking a full cup of tea over the table, a blanket, cushions. Eghh.
A good night I didn't hear the bells throughout the night therefore must have slept well unlike John. The village of Biert is small with a church, Maire - like a town hall - a bar and bakery. The above shot is a sign for the bakery where they also make and sell pies - croustade. These pies vary and the favourite of J and I, who live, here is for a thin crusty pastry, apparently this one is too thick. However many small bakeries close on a Monday, this is one of them.

The village is set in a dip between a number of mountains such as the Col de Port, Col de la Crouzette. The campsite has mainly older small caravans set up for the summer with awnings, tables and chairs sat outside, it very normal and village looking. Camp sites are usually smart, newish vans and motorhomes and all laid out just so. We arrived and the lady supervisor suggested we could camp wherever. There is a loo and shower block, all very quiet and useful for the weekenders. We like it! Apart from the church bells which ring twice on the hour, at midnight 24 clangs is interesting.
We plan to head towards the SW corner of France, the Aqutaine. An area we think we will like, ??
