Yet Con, Purvis Street

If you are ever in Singapore, there are a few must try dishes, one of which is Hainanese Chicken Rice. One of the oldest establishments that serves this is Yet Con on Purvis Street, one street over from the famous old Raffles Hotel. I'm sure you can get chicken rice at the Raffles, but it won't be as good as the one at Yet Con, or if you prefer, Chin Chin across the road from Yet Con. Save the Raffles for the Singapore Sling at the Long Bar (too sweet for my palate really) and head out for a taste of real Singapore.

There are plenty of places where you can get good tasty chicken rice, but Yet Con is really old school, it hasn't changed since I started going there more than 30 years ago, and it probably hadn't changed for 30 years before that!
