Dawn in the National Park
A man I once knew, a miner, whenever he was asked why he got up so early, invariably replied that you die in bed. Ironically, he didn't, he died in a tragic, pit accident. This morning I got up really early and leaving Piper snug in her basket, I set off for the Swiss National Park. Consequently, by the time it got dawn I was high up and on the hunt for animals, this shot was taken on the way down. I heard the roar of the stags in their rutting cycle in the darkness but sadly I did not see my main quarry which was chamois and steinbock. However, just after this shot was taken I saw the stags high up on an alp enjoying the warmth of the early morning sunshine. The park is just magical and awe inspiring, with huge wild corries and peaks traversed by a single faint path.
