Vote for Women
…Victoria Tower Gardens
...Inscription: ’This statue of Emmeline Pankhurst was erected as a tribute to her courageous leadership of the movement for the enfranchisement of women.’
Those raindrops on the statue look like teardrops. Emmeline has cause to weep.
Nearly 100 years later, the leadership score in the 2014 political party conference season in England:
MEN 4 WOMAN 1
Calm Down Dear Cameron, leader of the DAZ party
Ed Moribund, leader of the SAINSBURY’S BIO party
Nick Pledgebuster, leader of the SURF party
Nigel Forage, leader of the PERSIL NON-BIO party
Natalie Bennet, leader of the ECOVER party
As the conference season ends, the general election campaign begins in earnest.
These five people will be popping up all over the place in the dark winter months ahead, all pushing to grab the media’s and our attention, all promising that their brand of washing powder will wash whiter than white and whiter than the rest.
Don’t believe it. Washing powder is washing powder.
But if you want to make a small difference, vote only for female washing powder or none at all. If there's no woman candidate in your local constituency you can bring yourself to vote for, don’t vote.
VOTE FOR A WOMAN OR ABSTAIN. DON’T VOTE FOR A MAN.
