Good human beings

excerpts of "marital song 2" by Antjie Krog:

your everyday daily hand in mine
the silence of your thumb
and a palm that is always itself

your hand secretes a mildness
which I fail to name adequately
if you hold me I breathe

*     *     *

your integrity fills the length of our love
my eyes open up all around you
I bequeath my mouth to you

A Sunday afternoon walk with Sue's brother Mark and his wife Sandy. Mark's two gorgeous children in their twenties joined us all for an Argentine dinner of arepas and whatnot. Now all family has left, the dishes are done, the sheets are in the washer, and Sue can collapse. The sweetness of the time was seeing how the people in her family love her and love each other.
