Autumn colour

This tree has been in the garden as long as I can remember, probably as long as the house has stood. When it gets out of control I cut it back, occasionally to the ground, and it always bounces back. The only problem is the number of suckers it throws up everywhere.

According to the RHS website it is called Stag's Horn Sumach ( Rhus Typhinia).

The leaves turn this brilliant crimson colour one at a time and the branches are fury to the touch, I suppose like a Stag's antlers in velvet, hence the name.

A lovely sign of Autumn
