Red Wattle Bird
Nearly all our local birds are in the middle of their breeding season, not the least these Red Wattle Birds. They are a honey eater, but will happily eat insects and mince when the occasion allows.
They wake us up every morning with their raucous and very loud calls.
I heard a magpie baby this morning too - which explains why Mrs. Maggs and her little gang are so anxious - and hungry - at the moment.
