going under

Lunch at Dysart Harbour today, for the first time in ages. The day had turned sunny and warm during the morning, so an opportunity not to be missed.

A huge swell was coming in from the southeast (although it wasn't particularly windy) and was breaking over the outer harbour wall - high tide as well. A sign of nasty weather somewhere around.

Auld Eck's dinghy caught my eye, as it seemed to be about to sink. Folk who moor boats in the harbour often need a dinghy to get out to the boat if it isn't tied up at the harbour wall.

Auld Eck is also the name of a small motor cruiser moored nearby. The kind of boat which is common around here - nothing fancy, not a floating gin palace, not intended to impress your pals, but ideal for just going out for a few hours of rod fishing.

Auld Eck the motor cruiser also needs some pumping/baling out fairly soon, but how will the owner get out to her?
