The Princess of Wales RAF Hospital - A Mural

Today, we visited a different hospital for the GOG to have a pain block so today’s picture shows part of a mural, which I saw in the main building on the way to the café; the mural depicts Ely. It was difficult to photograph being in a corridor with no opportunity to get further back; it looked much better in reality.

As is usual for us, we arrived early for his appointment, in this case very, very early! I knew where the hospital was situated, being born and having lived in the Fens for many years. The GOG was not so sure and did not want to be late! I did not follow the map and directions, but went through the middle of Ely via the one-way system, which meant I did not have to go all the way round Ely on the ring road.

I stayed with the GOG until they took him to theatre and then went to the café, called ‘The Docky Box’. This reminded me that where I used to live, your lunch box was always called your ‘Docky Box’. I had a very nice jacket potato with cheese and then went back to the waiting room; it has taken all day so today’s picture is representative of how I spent my day.
