An unwelcome visitor

The sound of a cock-a-doodle-doo was a little bit closer than normal this morning after I switched off my shower.

Upon lifting the roof of the chicken coop when I got outside, there he was sitting up on the perch with the hens. The sudden flood of light must have revealed his own predicament and the commotion began.

I do not know where he came from, nor who put him there. A prank, of course, and one that a friend had been threatening for a long time "those hens of yours need a cock". But after much verbal abuse on my part to him, it seems I had the wrong culprit.
