At sea

We sailed the Bosphorus as it grew dark yesterday evening and headed out to the Black Sea. It was a little breezy overnight and the ship did roll somewhat.

I woke early and went out on deck to be greeted by a wonderful sky over the Northern Coast of Turkey. We are at sea today, due to arrive in Trabzon tomorrow.

The only thing I know about that city is the name of their football club, Trabzonspor. We sold a mediocre striker to them many years ago. The highlight tomorrow is to be the monastery of Sumela. Looking forward to it.

Life on the Aegean Odyssey is surprisingly quiet. There are 160 passengers and 164 crew! The changed itinerary from the Crimea put off some travellers and the geographical location is a drawback to others.

It's very strange. I went in early for breakfast and there was just me and around 25 waiters!!!!! They're lovely but it is a bit strange.

Another magical journey - and playing bridge too.

Captain's welcome dinner tonight.
