Stocking Up!

Dear Diary,

Philomena is back, gathering the sunflower seeds to stock up her larder for the long winter season ahead. The birds have not come back to the feeders yet but they will. This is the time of year I look forward to seeing my furred and feathered friends up close and personal.

She watched me at the door making a photograph of her. I'm sure she would have said it was alright but as every polite chipmunk knows, it's not nice to speak with your mouth pouch full!

It has begun to pour down much needed rain so cutting back the garden will have to wait. These are the fall rains we wait for each year. It will knock the leaves off the trees but they have had a very good show. The wind and rain will strip the branches bare. They will take on the appearance of black lace against the sky soon.
