Visit to Pollock Halls
We are doing several landscape maintenance modules this year. One of the modules involves many trips to places of note with regard to their landscaping. Today was Pollock Halls up by The Commonwealth Pool, where first year Edinburgh Uni students can live, and where you can also stay in their 2 hotels.
The grounds are beautifully maintained, with care, enthusiasm, up-to date thinking and thoughtful plant selections and combinations.
There are many South African plants used and these Red Hot Pokers were glowing in the sunshine. Latin name, Kniphofia rooperi, native to the E Cape province and S Natal. Hardy to -15C, which I was surprised at.
