walking in the city

Prince Edward Viaduct*

My usual pedestrian route to and from downtown; more or less north from here, but way higher up. The structure in the foreground is a chocking ugly and ridiculously costly 'anti-suicide' fence, which theoretically serves to make some people safer, but holy depressing from one end t'other.

Okay, so the bridge redeems itself for the great views on prettier days.

* AKA Bloor Street Viaduct. Completed in 1918, the construction of this double-decker bridge was beautifully, if somewhat imaginatively, recounted by Michael Ondaatje in his first novel, In the Skin of a Lion. His high watermark in my view.
