Away in a manger
There are only four of "us ladies" where I work, and one started only this week, thus considerably boosting our numbers. As it was the birthday of one of them yesterday, the four of us went out for a bite to eat today (don't ask why we didn't go yesterday, it's a long story).
We drove up to some old farm buildings not far from our office, which have been converted into a few shops, and a small restaurant / coffee shop. I took this photo there, of an old manger which seems most apt to be situated in a restaurant.
It reminds me of an English man we met on holiday in a campsite in France many years ago. He wanted to make a complaint, so headed off to where the offices and restaurant buildings were. He told us after that he was quite cross that he had knocked on the door of the sales manager's office but there was no reply. We said that we didn't realise that he had his own office, to which he replied "Yes he has. Go through the main door and turn right. There's a big sign on the door which says "Salle à Manger" - that means "Sales Manager"" Oh dear. We couldn't tell him!
Unfortunately I didn't know what to do about the spotlights with my new-found "aperture priority", so here you have a beautifully preserved manger - plus spotlights.
The lunch was delicious - cheese and ham toasties and coffee. I rarely eat cheese or bread and I don't often drink coffee, so this was a real treat.
