Sketchbook #13: Devlin Waugh by Sean Phillips

Sean kindly drew this sketch of Devlin Waugh for me when I bought a copy of Incognito, his collaboration with Ed Brubaker.

I commissioned the creation of Devlin by Sean and writer John Smith many years ago, when I was edited the Judge Dredd Megazine, and the freelance exorcist remains one of my favourite comics characters. I suspect he's one of the first overtly gay regular characters in a mainstream British comic, and was so popular at the time he out-ranked Judge Dredd in the affections of readers.
