Dalmeny House

I was struggling to be motivated today. Went with MT to Hopetoun Gardens for a drool at the plants and to miss all the birds on the feeders with camera and to get tea and scones.

Then went to Dalmeny Estate to have a wander to the water's edge, tide was in so no view of Barnbougle Castle. Saw the buzzards hunting which is great to watch them circling. My Dad used to enjoy going into the grounds and seeing the wildlife and recording the swans' data. We saw deer today that must have escaped across from Dalmeny onto the West Craigie Farm fields.

This is Dalmeny House, it's a place I have walked passed many a times from South Queensferry home, but it was nice to have a drive down instead. The House is only open for a couple of months in the year for viewing, and there is the right of way recently becoming part of the John Muir Way that goes thru the grounds from Cramond to South Queensferry.

The sun was out and the sky was blue making the Forth look blue too. There were plenty golfers out today, not something I've tried - Crazy Putting is my level ;-)

"The large bronze statue of a horse which greets visitors to Dalmeny House is a portrait of King Tom, the foundation stallion of Baron Meyer de Rothschild's Mentmore stud. Racing was close to the Baron's heart and he enjoyed remarkable success: he won the Derby, the 1000 Guineas, the Oaks and the St. Leger all in one year, 1871."
