Only gentle on the sky

As the sun rose I saw that these clouds were only gentle on the sky. A few minutes and the colour bleached, the depth was lost and everything was a uniform primrose wash from horizon to zenith. An average of this glory. Perhaps the fading final note of an angelic chorus.

I love to try to distinguish between tangerine, gold and apricot, between auric and amber, these autumn sunrises have them all. But they are only loosely held by the sky and they are gone before I am ever certain.
