Remebering WO 1 in Flandres fields

My grand dad has served more then 4 years in WO 1. His job was to repair the broken telephone wires , repairing path ways and so on. Mostly this was done at night. I visited the exact place where he has been for most of the time. Further on i visited the " Ijzertoren" ( Yser tower in english? ) and some other monuments. On the pic one can see the river Yser" and also the famous trench of dead. Thousands of soldiers found there last place along that site.
The lady on the pic has never left her house in occupied zone. Many important people , king ; generals visited her. She even got medals for bravery.
