Qigong
This beautiful spectacle called Qigong (Chi Kong) happens every morning outside my office. This morning though, something special was going on, with all the participants wearing silk costumes, so I grabbed my camera and went for a closer inspection.
Qigong means “Life Energy Cultivation” as a literal translation. The idea being to cultivate and balance Qi (Chi – reference to the karate kid 2, Jacky Chan).
It looks like martial arts in slow motion, but is a form of gentle exercise, body control and meditation, popular throughout China and worldwide. Qigong was actually banned in the bad old days of the cultural revolution back in the 60’s. Yes, I can understand that, these thugs must have been a serious threat to the establishment!
