The Jubilee Pump

Many years ago (before electricity reached these parts) Rippingale had a village water pump. Sadly it disappeared when houses were built, but we do have one old photo of what it was like.

Jim (our local historian) asked yours truly to do a blown up version, so Mrs W kindly photographed it (better than scanning) and cleaned it up, and I produced a couple off prints, A4 and A3, for Jim’s exhibitions.

Today I tried to repeat the original photo, but could not quite get the angle right due to a mature apple tree, however I think it’s close enough. I feel another entry in the village website Past and Present page coming on . . .
