Derelict Thursday: Le Château
Well, I said last week that I wouldn't run out of derelict buildings any time soon. I didn't have to go far for this one; it's the medieval château in our village. Over the years, it's been divided up between multiple owners. It's a real shame that the owner of this part doesn't care in the least what state it's in and apparently is not interested in selling it either.
We have friends who spend their holidays in the house to the left of this photo (just visible). To the right, where you can see sky through the once-grand window, a gite with a roof terrace has been created; there's a wine-tasting room on the ground floor. The rest of the château houses an ageing cellar for wine, and finally the amphitheatre where most of our summer events take place. It makes it all the sadder that this, once the core of the château, is just left to crumble.
This week's entry in SarumStroller's Derelict Thursday challenge. I considered mono but decided in the end to keep the blue sky. Go large to appreciate the full eyesoreness of this.
