Silver Fern - it's who we are...

The Silver Fern is our national plant which represents Kiwis in many ways.

This silver fern was placed on a track of Papamoa Hills today possibly by some children who are on school holiday. You can place the fern on a track in the direction one is heading for searchers to find you if you are lost.

For those not aware the silver side of the fern is actually the underside of the normal green fern commonly known as a Ponga ( punga).

Many Kiwis would love to change our national flag to the silver fern but for most it represents our sports codes as a black flag with a silver fern on the middle.
