Auld Reekie!

Since Jamie came along our holidays have become about family & fun as opposed to travelling & sightseeing. So instead of going to Rome we now go to CenterParcs which we all love. I've always been interested in history, old buildings & architecture & have been lucky enough to to have been to Rome, Venice, Florence, Seville , Egypt & more.
Since i took up photography as a hobby last year & started going into town with my camera, i came to realise that i don't have to go abroad for all these things. It's all on my doorstep, Edinburgh is teeming with history & old buildings. Places that i've walked past hundreds of times, i'm suddenly seeing in a different light & it's all thanks to my camera.
When i look at a building now, i see past the building society/bank/shop etc that it is & look at the features of the building. The ornate windows, the carvings, statues & pillared entrances & try to imagine it as it was when it was built hundreds of years ago.
My Blip shows some of the books i've bought which give great insight on the places so many of us have walked along without a second thought. They're also great for giving me ideas of days out with the camera & possible blips.
