'Orange Peas in a Pod'

Not really! This unfortunately named 'Stinking Iris' is officially known as 'Iris foetidissima' . Through the summer the flower is a very pale yellow-lilac with brown mixed in...in the Autumn it develops into a very hard pod..then bursts open into brilliant orange berries. They last far longer when cut for flower arranging..than on the plant.

Beware though! This plant is very TOXIC!
