Wrapped trees
For the past couple of years, the trees in the main street in the village are wrapped in the most in-your-face pink imaginable during October. Many people do the same with the trees on their sidewalk. This all to support people who are fighting breast cancer, to salute those who have been through it and bear the scars, and to honour those who did not make it.
I know a few of these brave people. Some are close friends, some are people I've never met, but I admire each and every one of them. They henna their heads to celebrate their baldness, they care for their family members, they look after others, they joke and laugh in public, and probably cry in private.
Stay as strong and as beautiful as these wrapped trees, all of you affected by cancer in one way or another.
