My new toy.....

This is the new machine I have been awaiting delivery of and it finally arrived at 1.30pm Friday, having been told by the manufacturers they had upgraded the delivery for AM Saturday.... today!!! after all the trouble and phone calls made to see what the carriers were doing. That is another story!!

Well, I have it and have spent this morning unpacking it and assembling it.
It is a heavy duty chip and dust collector and is so much quieter than the small one I have.

How this works is a large impellor is encased just below the motor that drives it, sucks up the wood chips and dust via the transparent tube you see attached to the underneath of the impellor housing. The heavier wood chips fall into the bottom collection bag whilst much lighter dust particles are collected in the top bag which also acts as a filter as air is blown through the pores of the bag but retaining the dust.

I have been concerned about the noise factor for sometime when working in my W/shop at weekends when using my small noisey one although good, but when used it absolutely deafened me even when wearing good ear muffs.
This new one is much bigger, more efficient in collecting larger chips and is so much quieter.
Safety all round is my motto. Woodworking has inherent dangers as we all know.

Now I must get on and turn those legs for the chair I am currently making.
