Diwali...

I've not been in the city centre for a couple of weeks so I thought I'd go for a bit of a wander. It was its usual busy self. And interesting. The city centre was full of fans from Wigan and St. Helens in town for the final of the Challenge Cup at Old Trafford. They all seemed to be having a good day out wandering about the city marvelling that we had that new fangled electrickery. Well I was joking about the electrickery, but some were having fun trying to understand the tram system and negotiating the ticket machines.

In Albert Square the Hindu population of the city were out celebrating Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Light. There were Bollywood dancers and ladies in beautiful costumes and this stunning vehicle. Somewhere under this is a Mazda van. I got talking to one of the guys who had created this stunning vehicle, a facsimile of one of those vans that criss cross the Indian sub continent. Last week it was starring in a Bollywood movie in Bradford. Next week it's being taken down to Birmingham where it will be filming at Birmingham Airport which is standing in for Mumbai Airport in another Bollywood movie.
